Visual Ecology
Our aim is to study the flux of visual information available to species that inhabit Brazilian ecosystems, such as: tropical forests, savannas, xeric shrublands and grasslands. We intend to understand the relative importance of major ecological variables to the evolution of sensory systems, paying special attention to the ecology of color vision.
We encourage the use of different methodological approaches, such as: behavioral observations in the field and in captivity, psychophysics and visual modeling.

Cognitive Ecology
Our aim is to study the evolution of animal cognition in order to identify which environmental stimuli were primordial to the development of specific skills.
Through behavioral studies we intend to evaluate how information is processed and decisions are made in field and captive conditions.
